Happy New Year!
It’s just after Christmas and I am sure you all have received some lovely gifts from your families and have made your New Year’s Resolutions.
I was getting ready for work this morning when a story suddenly come to mind that I had read quite a while ago.
It was about a woman whose mother had sadly died and she was in the family home clearing out her personal things. She came across a drawer in her mother’s bedroom and in it she found lots of gifts that she had bought her mother over the years. Bottles of perfumes, make up sets, silk PJ’s, pieces of jewellery and expensive bubble bath were just some of the things she found.
Her mother had always loved the gifts she had bought her, and had put them away for “best” or for when she was going out. It was the same with her clothes, as her wardrobe was full of lovely items still with the tags on, which she had never got around to wear and enjoy.
This really struck a chord with the daughter and right there and then and she made a promise to herself that she would not do the same. She would not save anything for “best” and she would enjoy the things in her life that made her happy. In her mind everyday was her best.
So, what are your thoughts about this?
Mine? Use the perfume and makeup, wear the PJ’s and enjoy the bubble bath. Endeavour to be your best every day and be as happy as you can. Don’t make empty resolutions that do not have any meaning, plan and dream big dreams and take steps to make you a happier you!
