I had reason to contact Apollo Care earlier this year as we had to increase the level of care provided for my mother who suffers with hearing and sight problems (she is on the severely sight-disabled register) as well as with significant mobility issues and a diagnosis of the onset of double dementia. In addition to all of these issues, there are needs which come simply as a result of the age-related frailty which, at 91 years of age, one would expect.
My first recourse was to Age Concern, but they were unable to provide the amount of care required. The contact at AC did, however, recommend Apollo Care Ltd and passed me their contact details.
I was pleasantly surprised by the speed of response from Apollo Care. Zara Williams, Care Manager for Apollo Liverpool, came to visit my mother in her flat the next day and the speed with which they were able to assess the kind of care which mum would require and their general approach and sensitive handling of the conversation with her were, in my opinion, exemplary.
In the four years since I returned from Germany to assist my mother with her various problems, I have had dealings at various times with three care companies. All of these companies were adequate in delivering some measure of care but often, in a single week, mother might see as many as five different carers with the concomitant increase in confusion and uncertainty which this engendered.
One of the things which distinguishes Apollo Care, in my opinion, is the way in which they appreciate the need for building good relationships between care-givers and clients and for a continuity of care wherever scheduling makes this possible.
Zara, the Manager of Apollo Care Liverpool, has been particularly impressive because of her diligence, positive work ethic and ability to build up a good relationship with my mum who, it must be said, is not always an easy person to get along with.
All in all, I would have no hesitation in recommending Apollo Care as a company in the warmest terms possible.
